Nalgene Bottles
- Use narrow mouth bottles for liquids.
- Use wide mouth bottles for tablets, capsules, ointments, or dried herbs.
- Use dropper bottles for alcohol, Povidone-iodine solution, or oil of clove. Dropper bottles come in 1-, 1/2-, and 1/4-ounce sizes.
- One-ounce bottles fit into the medium 4-loop velcro strips while 1/2- and 1/4-ounce bottles fit into the small 6-loop velcro strips. A 1/2- ounce bottle is the same height as a 1/4-ounce dropper bottle.
- In our Minimalist First Aid Pack 1/4-oz bottles are typically used for medications with 1/2-oz bottles for Benzoin or Povidone-iodine. Use 1-oz wide mouth bottles for ointments.
- In our Guide First Aid Pack and Expedition First Aid Pack 1/2-oz bottles are used for small tablets or capsules with larger medications carried in 1-oz wide mouth bottles. Benzoin or Povidone-iodine are usually carried in 1-oz bottles. Ointment is typically carried in 1-oz wide mouth bottles. 2-oz bottles are tall and only used occasionally for carrying Oak & Ivy Cleanser, Povidone-iodine, and other high use items; our first aid packs are primarily designed to carry 1/4-, 1/2-, and one-ounce bottles.
